Interesting how many aspect of today's culture are harking back to the "old days"... Fascinating to see how the popularity of music hall-type entertainment / variety has risen again after a decline of what we know of traditional music halls!

It certainly is fascinating how the legacy of music hall culture can be traced through the 20th century all the way to the present. Very interesting to read about the Kinks, XTC and Blur. I will look towards adding a page to the website on how bands and pop music have been influenced by the precedent set on the halls.
The song 'Sam Hall' has stayed popular for three centuries! It originated from the earliest days of music halls and was covered by Johnny Cash and The Dubliners.
The Kinks kept the music hall tradition alive in the 60's with a variety of songs such as 'All Of My Friends Were There' and 'Do You Remember Walter'. Later bands such as XTC and Blur were to keep the flame alive as well. Long live Music Hall!
I agree. may be if we didn't have British Music Hall tradition, we wouldn't have shows like Britains Got Talent.
